And to prove to you that this is no empty promise but a reality, Laurastar is committed to repairing its products for a minimum of 10 years.

  • IS IT BAD TO BE TOO HYGIENIC? WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DISINFECT TOO MUCH?
Yes, excessive hygiene, particularly personal hygiene, combined with many other factors such as pollution, stress or a sedentary lifestyle, could be responsible for an increase in allergies within the general population. But ensuring your home is clean by targeting the areas most likely to be contaminated does not equate to excessive hygiene, either of yourself or your environment. This reduces exposure to pathogens and thus prevents the onset of diseases that require drug treatments with potentially disruptive effects. It’s all about balance and common sense when protecting our bodies and intestinal flora, which are often at the frontline. In the case of a confirmed allergy, eliminating exposure to the allergens in question is the only solution to prevent the onset of symptoms.
  • IS LAURASTAR DMS ONLY EFFECTIVE ON FABRICS OR OTHER MATERIALS AS WELL?
Laurastar DMS is effective on almost all materials. It is gentle enough to be used on worktops, tiles, metal handles, some plastics and all kinds of fabric. Before applying Laurastar DMS, make sure your items are water- and heat-resistant. If you have any doubts, please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions. Never direct the steam towards people, animals, plants and living beings in general.
  • DO LAURASTAR PRODUCTS HAVE A LABEL?
Yes, IZZI has obtained the UK Allergy label and is in the process of obtaining the Swiss AHA label.
  • WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO DISINFECT MY HOME?
At home is where we should feel the safest and most comfortable. Disinfecting your home can reduce the risk of infections, allergies, asthma attacks and their symptoms. It also means that the immune system is protected from repeated exposure to pathogens that can weaken it. By doing so, we protect ourselves and the most vulnerable such as babies or the elderly, or those at risk; and we prevent the onset of diseases that require the use of potentially disruptive medical treatments.
  • CAN I DISINFECT ALL TYPES OF MATTRESSES WITH LAURASTAR DMS SYSTEM?
Yes, absolutely. Dust mites live at a maximum depth of 2 cm, as do bacteria and viruses. Bed bugs stay on the surface, in the seams and on the bed frame. Therefore, disinfecting the side of the mattress you sleep on is crucial. However, please beware of the heat resistance of your mattress, as Laurastar DMS can reach up to 160°C and could damage it. Please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • DOES LAURASTAR DMS LEAVE TRACES OF LIMESCALE ON TAPS?
No, it does not leave any traces of limescale because the water is filtered by means of the anti-limescale cartridge found in the product. Surfaces disinfected with Laurastar DMS steam will dry naturally in the open air.
  • WHY SHOULD I DISINFECT MY TOWELS WITH LAURASTAR DMS?
Towels are breeding grounds for micro-organisms because they are kept in hot, humid and sometimes poorly ventilated environments. If towels aren’t washed at 60°C, ideally every day, these micro-organisms will multiply and could cause diseases. But washing them daily isn’t always possible. Laurastar DMS is a safe and effective solution to help you disinfect your towels properly.
  • WHY DOES LAURASTAR DMS MAKE IRONING FASTER AND MORE DURABLE?
Because it guarantees a perfect result in half the time, treating fabrics gently by delicately restoring them and disinfecting deep within the fibres and on the surface of objects, killing >99.999%* of viruses and bacteria and 100% of dust mites*. Performance, hygiene, and care are all thanks to a steam that doesn’t leave your clothes wet and works 15 times faster than steam from standard steamers.
  • CAN I SANTISE DMS MY CAR WITH LAURASTAR DMS?
Of course! Car interiors can be disinfected with Laurastar DMS: the steering wheel, levers, gearstick, handles, seats, etc. However, avoid spraying steam on parts that are not heat- or water-resistant, such as electronic parts.
  • IS LAURASTAR DMS STEAM ON ITS OWN ENOUGH TO CONTROL BED BUGS?
Yes and no. As a preventive measure, it is very effective – especially on suitcases and clothing when returning from somewhere busy – but in the event of an infestation, as in the case of eradication, you should be very methodical, systematic and patient. Results aren’t always immediate. We recommend that you seek professional advice in the case of severe infestations.
  • CAN LAURASTAR DMS BE USED FOR CLEANING?
You can use Laurastar DMS on an already cleaned surface. To remove condensation, you can then wipe the surface with a cloth that has been previously disinfected with steam.
  • IS STEAM A HEALTHY ALTERNATIVE FOR DISINFECTING?
Yes, because it is 100% natural and chemical-free, unlike other technologies that use chemical substances (insecticides, chlorine, ammonia, phthalate, terpene or synthetic products) or processes that can be harmful to our health (UV or photocatalysis, for example).
  • WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 99.99% AND 99.99% MICRO-ORGANISM REMOVAL?
The nines after the decimal point indicate the precision of the device, which is used in laboratories to measure the removal of micro-organisms – and therefore its limitations as well. For certain pests visible to the naked eye or under the microscope, a 100% elimination rate can be achieved as there are no restrictions. Every 9 achieved is a massive advancement because it means a higher level of removal. For example, a 99.99% removal of micro-organisms is 10 times greater than a 99.9% removal. So, with one extra 9, bacterial residue goes from 1/100 to 1/1000. For micro-organisms such as bacteria, viruses and fungi, it is especially important to achieve the highest possible removal rate.
  • HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DISINFECT MY MATTRESS, BEDDING AND BEDROOM WITH LAURASTAR DMS STEAM TO PREVENT DUST MITES?
If you suffer from dust mite allergies, you should steam disinfect your mattress at least once a week.
  • HOW DOES LAURASTAR DMS PREVENT ALLERGIES OR ASTHMA ATTACKS?
Scientific tests conducted by independent ISO 17025 certified laboratories have shown that Laurastar DMS removes allergens from the environment and from the objects we come into contact with. As a result, the immune system is less exposed and therefore less reactive, less fatigued, stronger and more effective.
  • IF I'M STAYING AT A HOTEL OR I OWN A HOTEL, WHEN SHOULD I DISINFECT AGAINST BED BUGS WITH LAURASTAR DMS?
It is advisable to systematically disinfect your belongings and luggage each time you return from a trip or make a second-hand purchase, for example. When it comes to disinfecting hotels or guest rooms, it is recommended to disinfect with hygienic steam the mattress, bed frame, skirting boards, armchairs, and luggage racks after each guest leaves. In the case of an extended stay, it is advisable to apply Laurastar DMS 15 days after the guest’s arrival. This is because it takes at least 15 days for bed bugs to become adults. Therefore, applying this preventive procedure on the 15th day will break their reproduction cycle.
  • DOES DISINFECTING MATTRESSES WITH LAURASTAR DMS LEAVE BEHIND MOISTURE?
Yes. Through condensation, steam disinfection does generate moisture. But mattresses are designed to wick away moisture, namely the moisture accumulated during the 8 hours of sleep at night. Applying DMS for just 3 seconds is enough to sanitise. Leaving your mattress in the open air is best to let it dry quickly.
  • WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF DISINFECTING WITH LAURASTAR DMS?
Laurastar DMS is not only certified for effective, reliable and fast disinfection, but also has the added advantage of being natural, non-toxic and chemical-free. It is an excellent alternative to chemical products and also helps to prevent the risk of infection or allergies.
  • HOW CAN LAURASTAR DMS REDUCE BACTERIAL, FUNGAL OR VIRAL INFECTIONS?
Scientific tests conducted by independent ISO 17025 certified laboratories have shown that Laurastar DMS kills viruses, including coronaviruses. For example, IZZI eliminates the Sars-cov2 responsible for Covid-19 in 2 seconds, as well as Candida albicans (fungal infections) in 3 seconds.
  • CAN LAURASTAR DMS USED ON CHILDREN'S HAIR IF THEY HAVE LICE?
No, that would be far too dangerous! Directing the steam towards people, animals, plants and living beings in general may result in severe burns.

  • WHAT WATER SHOULD I USE WITH MY LAURASTAR?
Laurastar products have been designed to work only with tap water. Please note that no additives should be added at any time such as perfumed water, water containing chemical products, or water collected in the dryer as these may damage your Laurastar products. Distilled water is not recommended because it is too pure and does not contain any minerals and thus no conductibility. The absence of conductibility will prevent the probe inside the boiler detecting the water level. It is thus advised to use tap water only. With tap water it is recommended to use the Laurastar granules or anti-scale cartridges, which prevent limescale, filter salts, and are anti-corrosive. The granules and anti-scale cartridges help prolong the life span of your Laurastar. Please note that if you are equipped with a water softener at home, your Laurastar products will also benefit from the granules and anti-scale cartridges.

IGGI has been approved for use in disinfecting clothing and all types of children’s items from the day your baby is born. IGGI's steam has been tested according to the regulations for materials in contact with food (which are stricter than for those in contact with fabrics). Only tap water and Laurastar anti-scale water filter granules or anti-scale cartridges are used. If you have just put on the cold iron protective soleplate on the hot iron, condensation can build up. If the iron is not heating up, check that the appliance is plugged in and that it is set up properly.
  • WHY DOES THE IRON NO LONGER EMIT STEAM?
There might be several reasons. Please make sure that the appliance is switched on and that the water tank is full. Please use exclusively tap water with our products in order to optimize the good functioning of the steam. The holes on the iron might be obstructed by limescale and should be then cleaned with a specific cleaning tool. If the appliance is scaled the boiler then needs to be rinsed. Please also check that the appliance is directly plugged in the electric plug without any extension or multi-socket adaptor. It happens that following the filling of the water tank, water has accumulated in between the tank and the boiler: please keep this area where the filling cap is situated very dry. Lastly, when handling a Laurastar Lift, please make sure that the water tank is correctly placed.
